Water was clear and running at 489 cfs. The fish were eager for red midge larva and thread midges in a creamy yellow color. We were told to use size 24 and 26, but had the best luck with size 18 flies. Had the river largely to ourselves compared to most years that we do this trip.

Winter Park Flyfisher
P.O. Midges are hatching midday and the trout are coming to the surface for the pupa and the adults in the tailouts of the slower pools. Griffith's Gnats, Midge clusters and most midge pupa are fishing well in the upper 6 inches of the water column. Best fishing action seems to be from 10:30 A.M. until around 2:30 P.M.
